Changing contemporary art formats and an experimental cultural program are launched on two floors of the bunker. Here, disciplines, positions and cultural actors are linked with each other in innovative ways. A lively, open exchange can arise, which emotionalizes, opens spaces and releases thoughts.
Artistic positions, questions and answers form a dialogue with the architecture and history of the site, which is special in every respect.
The exhibition rooms are currently closed. We will reopen with the vernissage of our new exhibition “Harald Naegeli - Drawings by a Sprayer” on February 13 - then the regular opening hours will apply.
Admission prices exhibition Regular: 4.00 EUR / Reduced: 3.00 EUR (students and holder of social pass) / Disabled persons incl. accompanying person: free / Children and young people up to 14 years: free

HARTMANNMUELLER "CRASH! Deal with it"
With "CRASH! Deal with it" HARTMANNMUELLER and his team have created a powerful and self-reflective examination of one of the seven basic human emotions: RAGE. This socially tabooed emotion is illuminated and examined by the performers from different perspectives. They use the stage space as an opportunity to create a safe space - a venue in which anger can be actively felt and acted out. The audience is drawn deep into the human emotional world, while the boundaries between reality and staging become blurred. What fears, physical reactions and memories are associated with anger and why is anger suppressed in the first place? CRASH! Deal with it offers a performative reconciliation with anger.

THE »BILKER BUNKER«IN THE COURSE OF TIME
As »air-raid shelter No. 25« the »Bilker Hochbunker« was built in 1942 at the corner of Aachener Strasse and Karolingerstrasse. Responsible for the planning was the architect Carl Krieger (1875-1957). With the conversion into an art and cultural space by Bilker Bunker gGmbH and in the context of the opening year, the history of the building can be experienced in a special way: digitally and emotionally.
Reports by contemporary witnesses, historical documents and video installations invite visitors to follow the eventful history and learn more about what being in the bunker actually meant and what the situation was like for those seeking protection. During this process, values such as freedom, democracy, pluralism and tolerance are to be consolidated in the consciousness of the visitors.

HARALD NAEGELI IN DÜSSELDORF BILK
They have always adorned the Düsseldorf city centre: running stick figures, strutting flamingos, triangular double eyes. Unfortunately, many of Harald Naegeli's famous spray drawings have been removed. However, they can still be found in the Bilk district, where Naegeli lived for almost thirty years. They can now be rediscovered here as well as in the »Bilker Bunker«: through an audio tour, on the concrete walls of the bunker, as a new edition in dialogue with sprayer "Magic" from Düsseldorf and in two exclusive editions.
The work "Magic vs. Naegeli '96", which is complemented by two selected screen prints and photo editions with Naegeli's motifs, can be seen from the 30th of November as part of the exhibition »From shelter to free space«.
Further works by Naegeli can be discovered at any time on your own and with your own ears: through the digital map and in the audio tour through the Düsseldorf district of Bilk.
In our small but nice shop at the main entrance you can buy artists' catalogues, architecture books, limited art prints, editions and our »Bilker Bunker« merchandise consisting of posters, shoppers, T-shirts and sweaters. And best of all: the generated funds go to charitable causes and support our art and cultural formats!
The shop is open during the exhibition hours (Wed & Fri 5:00 pm–9:00 pm and Sat & Sun 12:00 pm–6:00 pm).
